Toom Garlic Dip
- 6-8 cloves garlic peeled
- 1 cup neutral oil such as sunflower or canola oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cold water optional, for adjusting consistency
Optional Variations
- 1 teaspoon fresh herbs such as parsley, cilantro, or dill
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika for a smoky twist
- 1 teaspoon red chili flakes for heat
Peel the garlic cloves and place them in a blender or food processor.
Add salt and blend until a smooth paste forms.
With the blender running, slowly drizzle in the oil a little at a time to emulsify the mixture.
Alternate between adding oil and lemon juice, continuing to blend until light and fluffy.
If the dip is too thick, add cold water one tablespoon at a time and blend until smooth.
Transfer to a container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to enhance the flavors.
For a milder garlic flavor, soak peeled garlic in ice water for 10 minutes before blending.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
Delicious as a spread, dip, or marinade!
