Ingredients

  • 9 cups crispy rice or corn cereal such as Chex
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter creamy
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Optional Mix-ins

  • 1/2 cup mini pretzels for a salty crunch
  • 1/2 cup candy-coated chocolates such as M&M's
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts such as almonds or peanuts

Instructions
 

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.
  • Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a large mixing bowl, place the crispy rice or corn cereal.
  • Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal, gently stirring with a spatula to evenly coat all pieces.
  • Transfer the coated cereal to a large resealable plastic bag or airtight container.
  • Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag or container, and shake until all cereal pieces are fully coated.
  • Spread the coated cereal on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let cool completely.
  • Optional: Add pretzels, candy-coated chocolates, or chopped nuts for extra texture and flavor.
  • Store Muddy Buddies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
