Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup rolled oats

Optional Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts walnuts or pecans
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon for a warm spice kick
  • 1/2 cup raisins for extra chewiness

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In another bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Combine Mixtures: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in Add-Ins: Stir in the chocolate chips and rolled oats. Add optional nuts, cinnamon, or raisins if desired.
  • Portion the Dough: Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Cool & Enjoy: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a chewier texture, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with almond or coconut flour.
Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh for up to a week.
